"The legal position over here is a little confusing. Software houses are not legally bound to submit games to the British Board of Film Classifications (who do the classifying) but there's an agreement between them and the software houses' representive body ELSPA (European Leisure Software Publishers Association) wherby any games that do feature excessive violence or sex scenes will be submitted. This has been done several times now, but usually by cynical marketting men who know if a game gets an 18 certificate it will get notoriety and sell more. Also, once a game has been given an 18 certificate it is technically illegal to sell that game to anyone under that age..."
